Funding help to take on an apprentice

EMPLOYERS can take advantage of a new funding initiative to help them recruit their first apprentice.

The Apprenticeship Grant for Employers is available for eligible employers who commit to recruit one or more 16 to 24-year-old apprentices for the first time. The National Apprenticeship Service is providing the grants, worth £1,500, to small or medium-sized employers.

Tony Tighe, business development manager for work-based learning at Calderdale College, said “This is a fantastic opportunity for companies to increase their workforce and for businesses who would welcome some financial and administrative support to be able to take on an apprentice.

“Calderdale College can also help local employers apply for the grant and recruit the right apprentice.”
