Golf magazines in management buyout

THE editor of three golfing publications has also become one of their owners following a management buy-out.

Dan Murphy will remain at the helm of National Club Golfer, Lady Golfer and nationalclubgolfer.com after he, former recruitment company director Tom Irwin and former PwC corporate financier Will Shucksmith bought publishing company Sports Publications.

Work on the two monthly titles and the website will now move from Cleckheaton to north Leeds, close to the current equipment testing venue at Moor Allerton Golf Club.

Mr Murphy, who has edited the titles for the last five years, said: “We plan to build on the name and reputation we have established in the golf industry over the past 10 years.

“We will continue to be loyal to our core market – members of the golf clubs of Great Britain. They trust us to provide an informed and independent read each month.”

The free magazines are distributed to more than 2,300 golf clubs across the country every month.
