Hargreaves warns of Welsh planning delays

HARGREAVES Services, the owner of Yorkshire’s Maltby colliery, today warned its plans to reopen a mine in South Wales are taking longer than expected because of planning delays.

The group had hoped for a planning decision in March but said which planning and consultation process has made progress, it now expects the process to continue into the summer before any decision will be made.

It said in a statement: “Despite the extended process, management is pleased with the progress being made and will continue to work closely with the local authorities and other interested parties in order to secure a planning decision at the earliest opportunity.”
