Hill Dickson expands into Yorkshire with Halliwells deal

LAW firm Hill Dickinson has struck a deal to acquire the Sheffield office of troubled Halliwells.

Teams from its health, corporate, commercial litigation and property practice groups will establish the new Hill Dickinson operation in Sheffield's City Plaza on Pinfold Street.

Corporate partner Neil Thompson and healthcare partner Andrew Peel will head up the office, which joins forces with Hill Dickinson's existing operations in Liverpool, Manchester, London, Chester, Singapore and Greece.

The Sheffield deal comes alongside Hill Dickinson's announcement to acquire Halliwells' Liverpool office, which will bring the firm's overall headcount to over 1,000 in the North West with a forecast fee income of 105m.

Peter Jackson, managing partner of Hill Dickinson, said: "We have continued to look at strategic acquisitions to develop our business and complement our existing strengths. This opportunity provided a perfect match and enables us to work with a first class and established team in Sheffield."

He added: "The driver behind our decision to acquire the Sheffield office was to bolster our already well-established healthcare offer and to extend our geographical reach into the Yorkshire region for the first time."

Mr Thompson, head of the Sheffield office, added: "We have the utmost confidence in joining forces with Hill Dickinson, which is a well-reputed business, with strong leadership and a clear business strategy. It has demonstrated continued stability and growth, and is this year celebrating its 200th anniversary.

"We have no doubt that the firm's culture, client base, specialisms and locations will provide a huge benefit to our clients and staff going forward."
