Holiday park expands as demand soars

A family-run holiday park is investing £450,000 in a new 10-acre lakeside site after seeing 20 per cent growth in a three-year period.

Demand for holiday properties at Wayside Holiday Park in Wrelton, North Yorkshire, has soared in recent years, thanks to targeted marketing by the company.

The site currently provides 154 plots across its existing 10-acre site. Most of the properties are five-star static caravan holiday homes, accompanied by an AA four-star touring site.

Increasing demand for luxury holiday accommodation has led to all of its existing units being sold.

An additional 38 new lodges will be created with a £450,000 investment. Four jobs - two full-time and two part-time - will also be created.

Construction work is underway and will be completed by March, in time to welcome guests for the 2015 holiday season.

Driffield-based businessman Mark Goodson, who is the third-generation owner of the site, said Wayside Holiday Park has focused on marketing its products effectively.

He said: ‘Most of our customers live within a two-hour radius of Wrelton, because they love the convenience of being able to head over here on a Friday, have a full weekend enjoying some of the best countryside Yorkshire has to offer and then still be back in time for work on Monday morning.

‘Armed with that knowledge, we’ve been able to get our marketing mix just right and it has really paid off.’
