HSBC reveals new regional banking complex to move with the times

hsbc has unveiled its revamped commercial and retail centre in Leeds, representing the global bank’s biggest single investment in its branch network in more than five years.

The banking complex, off Park Row, has been upgraded to devote more space to customer service and fitted with the latest technology, said a spokeswoman.

Debra White, retail branch manager, said: “Customers expect more today from a bank branch. They’re trusting people with their financial future so our new branch is designed to ensure customers can speak in privacy and comfort as well as manage and access their accounts in a way that’s convenient to them.”

The commercial centre features conference, business development and meeting facilities, including a 156-seat conference centre and event catering kitchen.

Jason Trigg, regional commercial director, said: “Many of our customers have high value and complex financial needs, sensitive issues to discuss or critical meetings to host. Our commercial centre is Leeds’ direct link to HSBC’s global network in 85 countries, enabling us to offer tailored professional solutions to support growth, both domestically and internationally.

“We’re proud to be open for business and Leeds is one of our best prospects for growth in the UK.”

Last night’s launch party featured a Chinese lion and blessing ceremony, in a nod to the bank’s Oriental heritage.

Speakers included Peter Keenan, head of the HSBC network.
