IT reseller LDD improves system for charity

A YORKSHIRE-based technology firm is doing its bit to help thousands of disabled people take their first steps into the world of work.

Leeds-based IT specialist reseller LDD Group has completed a major project for one of the UK’s biggest charities.

The Shaw Trust, which helps disabled and disadvantaged people to find jobs and live independently, hired LDD because it wanted to improve the IT system across 200 sites in the space of two months.

As part of the project, LDD visited 70 sites, from Aberdeen to the Isle of Wight, and collected 750 PCs, servers, printers and other IT equipment.

All of them were refurbished or disposed of. The project included work to roll out new equipment to the charity’s 50 strong retail estate.

LDD, which has worked with the Shaw Trust for three years, also installed the cabling at 30 new offices.

Neil Beckingham, the director of information Services at Shaw Trust, said LDD had helped the charity to provide a “seamless service to the 75,000 clients it works with every year.

Mandi Iles, group sales director at LDD Group, said: “We have a strong relationship with Shaw Trust and have looked after their estate for a number of years.

From modest beginnings, the LDD Group has secured a string of high-profile contracts with companies such as Nike UK, the global sportswear giant.

In the last two years, LDD Group has seen its turnover rise by 22 per cent to £11.6m. The company is aiming to hit £15m turnover in the next three years.

It has around 23 staff and hopes to hire more to meet demand.
