Jet2.com suspends flying programme until May due to Coronavirus

Leeds-based Jet2.com has suspended its flight programme until at least May 1.

In a Trading Update from its parent company Dart Group, it was announced that profit guidance will be materially impacted by the travel restrictions brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

It said: "Given the current situation and the wide range of intangibles with which we are now faced, including concern for our hotel partners with whom we have placed deposits to secure hotel rooms for the Summer 2020 season, we now have reduced visibility on the financial implications for our company."

Meanwhile Ryanair has cancelled most of its flights owing to the outbreak. Over the past week the firm has conducted an extensive repatriation programme to bring customers safely home.

Jet2.com said that it was "proud that the company and all of our colleagues have gone the 'extra mile' to ensure that everyone has been looked after."
