KCom trading in line as councils offer new opportunities

TELECOMS and business services group KCom said it is hopeful of winning more public sector contracts after scooping a deal to supply Staffordshire County Council.

The Hull-based group, which serves East Yorkshire with its Kingston Communications (KC) arm, plus businesses and organisations across the UK via its KCom arm, said it is trading in line with market expectations.

KCom's deal with Staffordshire will see it provide the council with a county-wide network to allow any public sector body in Staffordshire access to a communications network (PSN) and the ability to exploit its benefits.

"The PSN approach is a key public sector initiative that will result in several similar PSN opportunities around the country," it said.

"Further PSN developments across the country, and the continued extension of existing customer relationships, are among the key market opportunities for KCom."

KCom added it has won new contracts including an applications integration programme for Virgin Atlantic Airways, deals with Sky Bet and Volkswagen and the renewal and extension of managed services for Admiral Insurance.

Executive chairman Bill Halbert said: "Recent customer wins in KCom and Smart421 and the introduction of new services within KC demonstrate our increasing strength and competitiveness in our chosen markets.

"Our ability to build strong relationships and help our customers exploit the power of communications to deliver tangible benefits, underpin our positive outlook for future years."
