Kier Group moves into new regional headquarters

ONE of the biggest building companies in the UK is to move into a new regional headquarters in Leeds next month.

The Kier Group, which is currently developing and building the new Sovereign Square development in Leeds, has seen extensive growth in the region over the last year.

It has also appointed a new managing director for the north, and it is moving from its Boston Spa base to Thorpe Park in Leeds.

Its new offices will accommodate construction, living and property divisions, with space for expansion and new employees as the firm recruits to support its growth.

Its 1,000-strong regional team will be headed by new managing director John O’Callaghan, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the construction industry.

He said: “The public sector has remained active throughout the recession as it is critical to deliver core services in sectors like education and health, and we will continue to be a leading provider of public sector projects.

“But the commercial market has been heavily subdued.

“Now once again there is a clear appetite and confidence to invest and build across the retail, office and industrial markets, and as a delivery partner of choice we are signalling our ability to support our clients with our new expanded office and integrated Kier presence in the city.”
