Launch of new training service

A new scheme has been launched to help South Yorkshire businesses train existing and potential staff.

As part of the Skills4Jobs initiative, run by employment and skills experts Working Links across South Yorkshire, the scheme offers a recruitment and training service to employers of all sizes across the county.

The service is designed to help employers find their way through the maze of existing funding and training available, with everything now in one place via Working Links.

The UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) has recently identified a number of vacancies in the area which employers are struggling to fill due to the lack of appropriate skills in the economy.

Working Links, which operates in almost 200 locations across Great Britain, and its partners will work with employers to identify training needs of existing staff and also work on training needs for created posts borne out of promotions of the newly-trained staff.

Danielle Coleman, Working Links’ head of skills leadership, said: “Skills provision around the UK is a complex process for employers to access and can be difficult for businesses to find the right training provider.

“We have designed this one-stop shop for businesses in South Yorkshire to get access to Government funded training services.”
