Leeds set to host celebration of nation's top digital talent as scheme moves outside London for first time

Digital Leaders, the nationwide programme for promoting digital transformation across government, industry and charities, has announced the finalists of its DL 100 list in an event at Leeds Central Library, marking the first time the awards will be held outside London.

The list, which includes multiple Yorkshire-based finalists, is now open for a public vote, with the final order set to be announced at a ceremony held at the Royal Armories on Thursday, June 22.

Each year’s list is created from nominations submitted by members of the 200,000 strong Digital Leaders Community, before being shortlisted to the final 100 by the 21 DL 100 judges.

“We only had one judge from Yorkshire this year, so its strong showing as a region in the final list is both a great recognition of the amazing digital companies and initiatives locally, but also reinforces our own decision to choose Leeds over other cities for this year’s awards.”

The 100 finalists that make up the list will now compete for the public vote in one of 10 Categories.

Bradford-based Yemetech, York’s Environment Agency and Leeds’s The Data City are amongst the finalists, as are Good Things Foundation and MiToken Technology, both based in Sheffield.
