LEP chairman to stay on until 2015

BUSINESSMAN James Newman has accepted a request from the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Board (LEP) to remain as the LEP board chairman until September 2015.

The move follows the recommendations of a review panel which was established as Mr Newman’s three-year-term as chairman came to an end. The panel also concluded that there should be a full review of the role of LEP chairman. It is anticipated that a new LEP chairman will take over in the summer of 2015.

In a statement, the LEP said: “James has indicated he will not be seeking reappointment and will fully support the new chair as he or she assumes their new role.”
