Making money by making changes

BUSINESSES are being given the chance to find out how they can increase their profits by changing the way they use their water, energy and waste.

CO2Sense Yorkshire and Business Link, two taxpayer-backed organisations, are running two free workshops to help businesses access these opportunities and gain financial benefits.

Government reports suggest that businesses in the region could save 553m through low- or no-cost changes.

The workshops, to be held on September 3, in Leeds, and September 7, in Hull, are designed to show businesses what these changes are and how they can be made.

The events look at how businesses can profit by reducing how much they spend on energy and other resources, and how Environmental Management Systems can identify where savings can be made by cutting out unnecessary waste.

Katie Harvey, from CO2Sense Yorkshire, said: "There are real savings to be made, and we want to help businesses in Yorkshire make the most of them.

"On average, a typical business can save around 20 per cent on energy, 50 per cent on water and around 1,000 per employee on waste by making simple changes".
