MDL in launch of new laser arm

The division, which will operate globally but is based at MDL’s headquarters in York, will provide 3D laser measurement and consultancy services for customers’ specific projects and will also undertake assignments to demonstrate the capability of the company’s existing technology and new products as they become available.

Geomatics engineer Mark Reid, who has been appointed as technical services manager, and is in charge of developing the new division, said: “The global laser measurement market is forecast to double in size in the next two years and our new technical services division will ensure that as many businesses as possible can benefit from MDL’s ground-breaking technology.”

He joins from engineering and technology business, Consolidated Gulf Company, Qatar. MDL, which has offices in the US, Canada and Australia, is active in markets including quarrying, civil engineering and mining.
