Multi-million-pound renovation of historic Harrogate hotel creates two new bars and restaurants

A multi-million-pound renovation of an Edwardian hotel in the heart of Harrogate town centre has been completed by a major building consultancy.

Formerly called the St George Hotel, the sandstone building on Ripon Road has been revamped and renamed The Harrogate Inn by its new owners, The Inn Collection Group, which acquired the hotel last year.

Silverstone Building Consultancy project managed the renovation of the 96-bed hotel which included moving the main entrance to a more prominent position on the property and adding stone steps leading up to it.

The roof and external elevations have been renewed and repaired, a new kitchen installed and much of the interior repainted.

Tom Wright, senior chartered building surveyor at Silverstone Building Consultancy’s Leeds office, said: “The works programme has gone really well and the new bars, in particular, are looking very impressive.

“This is our fifth refurbishment for The Inn Collection Group and following our initial appointment as project manager and principal designer, our remit was extended to include the contract administration, which is testament to the strength of our ongoing partnership.”
