A need to improve infrastructure links in the region to help our cities prosper

What are the prospects for the property sector in Yorkshire?

Cautiously optimistic. There is a lot to look forward to in this part of the world even if HS2 is some decades away! Unfortunately, the region sometimes makes the headlines for the wrong reasons.

What is the best project you have been involved in?

Most of my work is in London and related to the rail industry at the moment – I guess that this is not very exciting but from a property litigator’s point of view it’s the kind of thing I enjoy.

What is your favourite building in the region and why?

Probably the Wool Exchange in Bradford but there is a wealth of wonderful architecture in the city. Take a walk through Little Germany and it’s hard not to marvel at the buildings.

If you could change one thing to improve the property industry in this region, what would it be?

Rail and road communications. I am firmly of the view that improved infrastructure links must be a key part of improving Bradford and other cities in the region. The announcement of the HS2 scheme was huge for the region, but, as a rail enthusiast I would be pushing for more.

Whom do you most admire in the property industry?

Jonathan Silver for what he achieved with the Saltaire Mill and the village generally. I believe that the village and the mill really show what can be achieved in terms of the regeneration of traditional buildings
