NG Bailey appoints former Carillion director as new chief executive

NG Bailey, one of Yorkshire's biggest family-owned businesses, has appointed a high-flying former Carillion director as its new chief executive.

The Denton-based building services company said David Hurcomb will join in September. Mr Hurcomb is currently interim CEO at Havelock Europa, the Scottish printing group.

He stood down from the main board of Carillion late last year and was responsible for the plc's UK building, private finance, property services and training services businesses.

Mr Hurcomb also held responsibility for the company's sustainability strategy, group-wide supply chain programme and was director of its Middle East joint venture.

The 46-year-old, who started his career with Carillion, said: "I look forward to joining NG Bailey. As a company that is a leader in its field, with a fantastic reputation, I will be proud to lead it as CEO."

Nimble Thompson, NG Bailey chairman, added: "I am delighted to announce David's appointment.

"It's clear to see from his career to date that David's industry expertise is second to none and I have every confidence that he will lead NG Bailey through the recession and into a new and exciting era.
