What was your first job?

Packing prawns in a seafood factory in Cairns, Australia. I lasted about seven weeks then got a job as a law clerk in Cairns.

If not in your present job, what would you like to do?

Long haul commercial airline pilot.

What was your worst mistake?

Turning up for my first court appearance in Brisbane in trainers and a wide 70s kipper tie. It’s a long story but I still maintain it was a set-up by my old boss.

What would be your ideal day away from the office?

Watching Leeds beat Man Utd at Old Trafford to win the Premier League title.

Name one person you would most like to have dinner with?

It’s a tie between actress Scarlett Johansson and Monty Halls the explorer.

What political, legal or economic event would you most like to see happen in your lifetime and why?

The removal of Ken Clarke as Justice Secretary. He is disman-tling our profession and has failed to listen to a word of advice.

What was your best subject at school?

Geography.

What are your hobbies?

Supporting Leeds Utd, cooking and gardening.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

Make sure my friends and family were looked after. Spend lots of time travelling and do more charity work.

What is your top time-saving tip?

Get yourself organised.

What is your favourite time of the day and why?

Evening. Time to chill out and drink wine.

What is the best thing about being in Yorkshire?

Not being in Lancashire.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

He was a good lad and good at his job.
