I would enjoy running a hotel in the Yorkshire Dales, as I am a great fan of good food, wine and company.

What's the worst mistake you've ever made?

I fear that there are too many to mention but I have achieved success by being adaptable and open to learning from one's mistakes and never make them twice.

What's your ideal day away from the office?

I really enjoy cutting up the golf course with my good friend, Mark Lowe. Although we are fair weather golfers and, on a wet winter's day, often cut the game short for tea and scones.

Name one person you'd like to have dinner with and why?

Terry Wogan. I was a TOG and an avid fan of the Irish broadcaster. However, I think Chris Evans is doing well in his place.

Woodwork. I once made a bench that still stands as our telephone table.

What are your hobbies?

I really enjoy walking and love a day with my children's dogs, Tilly and Archie.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

What's your top time-saving tip?

Learn how to use computers – although I don't practise what I preach. I am up to speed with emailing and Googling but fear my IT skills could do with a little upgrading and it always takes me twice as long as

my staff.

What's your favourite time of day?

First thing in the morning. I follow the phrase an early bird catches the worm and love my first cup of coffee while all is quiet and all the family are still in bed.

What's your favourite item of clothing?

My old Barbour jacket that has seen me through many an afternoon in the garden.

What's the best thing about being in Yorkshire?

The countryside.

What would your epitaph be?

He achieved success here because he lived well, laughed often and loved much.
