On The Spot With Vicky Locklin

Vicky Locklin is a former Yorkshire TV and radio presenter who now runs her own media training and presentation company in Leeds.

What was your first job?

Trainee news journalist for Radio Hallam in Sheffield

If not in your present job, what would you like to do?

I love what I do. I have been blessed to work on some great TV and corporate productions and invited around the world to lecture. One of my favourite TV jobs was presenting the health and beauty channel Wellbeing produced by Yorkshire TV – the best fun a girl can have with her shoes on.

What was your worst mistake?

Sending a text to a producer saying how shocked I was my co-host had been axed....and realising I had sent it to him instead and he did not know.

What would your ideal day be away from the office?

By the sea, glass of wine, and kids playing happily (and quietly) on the sand while my other half massages my feet.

Name the one person you would most like to have dinner with?

Comedian Robin Williams (just so I can hear him say “Nanoo-Nanoo” again).

What was your best subject at school?

A toss-up between art and being a bit of a rebel. I was once sent to stick my head in the toilet sink to flatten my spikey hair.

What are your hobbies?

Zumba, reading and wine.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

Buy homes in New York, Paris and Oz...then invite everyone I love to use them.

What is your top time-saving tip?

Forget make-up ... big sunglasses. They mask a multitude of sins.

What is the best thing about being in Yorkshire?

I am a full-on Yorkshire girl born in Harrogate, and Yorkshire is where my heart is.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

“Well that was fun, let’s do it again sometime” – pinched from Quniaron Bellthing (1930-2004).
