Victoria Plumb, which employs more than 70 staff, was launched in 2001 by brothers Sean and Jason Walker.

The Walker family is well known for buying the flat pack furniture brand MFI after it went into
administration. It later re-launched the brand as an online retailer.

According to its latest accounts filed at Companies House, Victoria Plumb posted sales of £26.2m in the year to February 2013, up from £19m the previous year, and achieved pre-tax profits of £6m compared to £4.8m the year before.

The business is expected to
attract interest from other DIY
retailers and builders’ merchants as well as private equity investors.

Victoria Plumb could not be reached for comment yesterday.
