Outsourcing demand set to boost Synergy

Synergy Health, a provider of sterilisation services to hospitals, said it expected to benefit from increased demand for outsourcing, after it posted a 17 per cent rise in full-year earnings per share.

Synergy, which employs over 4,000 people around the world, reported adjusted pre-tax profit of £38.3m on marginally improved revenue of £287.3m, resulting in EPS of 53.54 pence for the year to April 3.

Synergy, which added it had seen a strong start to the new financial year, said rising regulatory and technical standards would underpin demand for its services, particularly in Asia and the Americas. It said it expected overall revenue growth rates to reach double digits over the next 12 to 18 months.

The company, which strengthened its US sterilisation operations in April with the acquisition of BeamOne for an initial $35m, said its forward order book had increased by 8.2 per cent to £920m.

It added government austerity measures in the UK, which include a reform of the National Health Service, had not had an impact on its core services.
