Packaging experts pop the cork
on prestigious Champagne deal

A PACKAGING design and production firm from West Yorkshire has seen its latest creation for a French Champagne house launched in Paris.

Esholt-based Professional Packaging Services (PPS), which has a turnover of £6m and employs 16 people in the UK, won a contract to design the packaging for a new brand of Champagne named
Ladystyle.

Created by Champagne House Malard, the new brand is aimed at the young female market.

The box has a twin door opening which is secured by magnets to stay in an open position, revealing the bottle, which has a snake skin textured label and vibrant red script.

Depicted on the inside cover is a photograph of the inspiration behind the new brand, Natasha Malard.

The new Ladystyle Champagne was launched recently at a ceremony in Paris, with the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop. PSS declined to reveal the value of the contract.

Speaking about the design, Ms Malard said: “We are extremely proud of Ladystyle and, in order to help it stand out on the shelves, we needed to work with a company that understands the market. PPS interpreted the brief perfectly and provided us with a design which will appeal to our target market and help us to create a successful brand for the young, vibrant and astute modern female.”

Emily Hutchinson, the European account executive at PPS, said: “It is fantastic to be working with another well-respected Champagne house and to receive such wonderful feedback from the client. Working with Champagne Malard follows a series of success stories for us in the Champagne market, including well-known brands such as Bollinger, Taittinger and Duval Leroy.”

PPS, which specialises in bespoke gift and presentation packaging, was established in 1979 and offers a range of packaging services across the drinks, confectionery, fragrance and gift markets, with a client base including Bacardi, Thorntons and Boots.

Earlier this year, PPS invested in larger premises in rural Esholt, between Bradford and Leeds.

Managing director Simon Bell bought the business from his father and its founder Brian Bell more than six years ago. PPS sub-contracts its manufacturing, mainly to China, and has a base in Hong Kong, where it employs an additional 12 people.
