Park Plaza receives major facelift

Park Plaza Hotel in Leeds is undergoing a major refurbishment which should be completed by the beginning of 2012.

Park Plaza Hotels, which announced its half-year results this morning, said it had already started to renovate hotel’s ground floor and 96 rooms which would be completed in the autumn.

Work on the remaining 89 rooms will start in October and will be completed next spring.

In the six months to the end of June, the company made a pre-tax profit of around £1.2m, turning around a loss of around £4.6m in the same period last year.

Occupancy rates on a like-for-like basis increased from 73.2 per cent to 78.4 per cent while revenues rose by 20 per cent.

Revenue per available room increased by 21.2 per cent on a like-for-like basis.
