Part of former tramshed in World Heritage Site seeks tenant

Now a new tenant has the chance to move into the former tramshed, which stands on the edge of the Saltaire World Heritage Site.

CBRE’s Leeds Specialist Markets team is seeking a tenant for 7,000 sq ft of space in the historic building on behalf of a private landlord. The unit is being advertised with a guide rent of £45,000 a year.

The former tramshed, which is a Grade II-listed building, dates from 1904. The last tram left the Saltaire depot in 1939, although it was still used during the 1950s for trolleybuses. It later became a warehouse. The space available forms part of the former tramshed, with the eastern end occupied by The Hop. which is owned by Ossett Brewery. Saltaire, which is probably best known for Salts Mill, was created in the 1850s by the philanthropist Sir Titus Salt.

Sam Frankland, the director of specialist markets at CBRE in Leeds, said; “This unit presents a rare opportunity to obtain a large retail or leisure presence in Saltaire, which is recognised due to its World Heritage status. We expect to receive high levels of interest.”
