Piece Hall seeks catering firm and businesses

It was once a magnet for the world's woollen trade but The Piece Hall is now looking for over 40 entrepreneurs to make it an international retail, heritage and cultural destination once its £19.2m transformation is complete.

Sam Mason, chief executive of The Piece Hall Trust, said: “This is a rare opportunity. We are looking for someone who will do more than just rent the space. The catering partner will work with us in the restaurant and also have the rights to cater for conferences and big events. We need someone who can scale up and down.”

The deadline for tenders is Friday, February 19 2016.

Office spaces in the courtyard range from 200sq ft to 1,500sq ft at £21-£26 per sq ft and desk spaces are available to let on the first and second floors of The Piece Hall, alongside meeting rooms and conference facilities.

The Trust has received over 250 expressions of interest already and Mr Mason said he hopes at least half the space will be let when it opens in the summer.

“The Piece Hall has over 300 years of incredible history and the next chapter promises to be the most exciting in a generation,” he said.

“We want ambitious young, local, tried and tested, as well as new businesses to join us in making it happen.”
