Poundland to open store after extension

DISCOUNT retailer Poundland yesterday announced that its newly expanded store in Bradford will open on September 8, creating 15 jobs.

Poundland has more than 400 stores nationwide selling products at just £1. The range includes brands such as Mr Muscle, Cadbury, Weight Watchers, Colgate and Heinz.

Poundland’s trading director, David Coxon, said: “We are delighted to have extended our store in Bradford.

“Poundland offers exceptional value on top branded products to more than four million customers every week. The £1 price hasn’t changed since we opened our first store 22 years ago.”

In June 2010, Poundland was acquired by Warburg Pincus, a global private equity firm. Warburg Pincus acquired a majority stake, with the management at Poundland retaining a minority shareholding and continuing to lead the business.
