PR firms
up for awards

YORKSHIRE’s top public relations (PR) firms will be honoured at a major awards ceremony later this year.

The awards organised by the CIPR, the professional body for public relations practitioners in the UK, will highlight PR firms that have managed to grow during times of austerity.

The 2012 CIPR PRide Awards attracted 1,000 entries from the 12 UK regions.

Deborah Copeland, the chair of the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire CIPR group and senior account manager at Leeds-based Logistik, said: “The sheer number of entries from Yorkshire was impressive, especially when things are still pretty tough out there economically. It is testament to a thriving industry.”

In Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, Finn PR has been shortlisted for a record-breaking 11 nominations this year.

Other well-represented agencies include Umpf with eight nominations and Approach PR with six nominations.

In-house teams are also prominent in this year’s shortlist, with teams from Sheffield Hallam University, Welcome to Yorkshire and Yorkshire Water nominated in multiple categories.
