Prices set to start from £170,000 at planned 95 home development in Barnsley

A housing developer has received backing from a major private equity firm as it aims to start work on a scheme in Yorkshire this year.

The Sheffield-based housebuilder Honey has submitted plans to deliver a £23.5m development of 95 two, three and four-bedroom homes on Barnburgh Lane, Barnsley.

If planning permission is granted, the eight-acre development, which is known as Iris, will be the Sheffield-based housebuilding company’s first in Yorkshire since launching last October.

A four-bedroom showhome will be built on the development and prices will start from £170,000 for a two-bedroom mid-terrace property.

If permission is granted by Barnsley Council, work at Iris is anticipated to start in June with the first residents expected to move into their new homes in the first quarter of next year.

Honey chief executive, Mark Mitchell, said: “It’s a great feeling to have submitted plans for our first development in Yorkshire. We have started the year at pace with two planning applications and have more in the pipeline.

“We now look forward to Barnsley Council considering our plans to deliver much needed new homes for the residents of Barnburgh and surrounding areas.”
