Print firm invests to win clients

Asap Digital, a printing company, has spent £250,000 on a new press and a move into new premises to extend its capabilities and win business in new markets.

The company installed an HP Indigo press 5500 at its new Sheffield headquarters. The machine will enable it to operate a double shift and respond more quickly to customer demands.

The company said it hoped to attract more corporate clients from the commercial sector "that require the ability to match corporate identity colours and provide additional value to printed items".

It chose the machine because of its "high print quality coupled with low production costs, variable data printing capabilities and the ability to print seven colours including spot colours".

David Allsopp, director, said: "Digital printing is the future and in times of austerity and with growing environmental awareness has many benefits such as being able to order only what you need, when you need it, and therefore limiting waste.

"As our name suggests, our company delivers innovative printed products on time, or even faster where possible – our presses help us to achieve this.

"We expect the new press will enable us to target more business in the future that we simply could not have serviced before."

The privately owned company was founded in July 2005 and works for a range of design agencies and direct customers, providing products including leaflets, letterheads, restaurant menus, brochures and product manuals.

Mr Allsopp spent three days at a Hewlett Packard training centre in Holland learning how to get the best from his new investment.
