Public sector deals help KCom progress in tough market

TELECOMS group KCom said key public sector contract wins helped it make progress in a tough market.

The Hull-based group said the public sector remains an important growth opportunity, despite the Government’s austerity programme.

Its Kcom arm, which serves big businesses and organisations, was named preferred bidder by East Sussex County Council to provide a hosted managed communications service for a range of public sector organisations. The potential deal adds to its growing presence in public services networks (PSNs), where public sector bodies pool communications resources.

Its KC arm, which supplies phone and broadband to businesses and households in East Yorkshire, continues a roll-out of super-fast broadband to homes and business parks.

Bill Halbert, executive chairman, said: “Market conditions continue to be challenging. The group has however continued to exploit successfully the opportunities that are there, with positive momentum across all brands. We remain confident about the quality of our business operations and their capacity to generate cash and reconfirm our commitment to a minimum ten per cent growth in the dividend in this financial year.”
