Pure Air moves into new £500,000 headquarters as it cleans up contracts

NEWLY launched Pure Air Cleaning has invested £500,000 in new headquarters in Knaresborough after winning deals with the Leeds Arena and Everyman cinema at the Trinity Leeds centre.

John Dalby, managing director, has worked in contract cleaning for 25 years and sold a previous business, Complete Service Company, to private investors in 2011.

He then travelled around the globe to the Unites States, Brazil and Far East to attend cleaning seminars, before returning to the UK to launch Pure Air Cleaning.

The firm has an exclusive 10-year agreement with Michigan-based manufacturer Rexair to use its Rainbow cleaning system in the UK. The vacuum cleaner, which is said to produce no dust, filters the indoor air using a water cartridge, effectively cleaning the air whilst the operator is vacuuming.

The Rainbow is certified asthma and allergy-friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

Pure Air Cleaning employs 49 people, including six based at its new 5,000 sq ft HQ, which it has bought and fitted out. Mr Dalby was previously operating the business from his home in London, before moving back up to his home town of Knaresborough.

Speaking about his visits to worldwide cleaning seminars, Mr Dalby said: “In the Far East there were a lot of new things being brought on board in the cleaning industry and also talking about how the indoor environment has become quite a polluted environment these days with all the insulation regulations surrounding our buildings.

“What that does is it traps the air inside. If you create an indoor environment that is nice, warm and dry, unlike our old office buildings of the 1960s and 70s which used to be cold and draughty, you’re creating a perfect breeding ground for bacteria.”

He added: “Our system creates and promotes a much healthier indoor environment.”

Mr Dalby said that the contract with Leeds Arena is a three-year deal, while the agreement with Everyman cinema is for five years.

“If you think the only cinema to open in Yorkshire this year is the Everyman and the First Direct Arena is the largest entertainment venue to open in the UK this year,” he added.

Pure Air Cleaning was incorporated in November last year, and officially launched in May. It forecasts a turnover of more than £7m in its 2015/2016 financial year. It expects to turn over £500,000 in its 2012/13 year.

Mr Dalby formerly held the contract to clean all the Vue cinemas in the UK via his previous business Complete Service Company, which was based in London.
