PwC names new head of Yorkshire and the North East as Wedge appoints MD

IAN Morrison has started a new role as Yorkshire and North East regional leader at PwC.

He now leads the professional services firm’s Yorkshire and North East business, which includes more than 1,000 partners and staff across its Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield and Hull offices.

Mr Morrison has been with PwC since 1992 and has been a partner for the last eight years. He is originally from Leeds and went to school in Boston Spa before studying chemistry at Oxford University. He returned to Leeds after graduating and has spent over 20 years living and working in the Yorkshire region. He also spent two years on secondment with PwC in Melbourne, Australia.

For the last five years, Mr Morrison has led the firm’s assurance team across the North. Ian Green, who was previously regional leader, has taken up a national role as UK leader for business recovery services. Elsewhere, family firm Wedge Group Galvanizing, whose head office is in the West Midlands with a regional office in Bradford, has appointed a new managing director.

The hot dip galvanizing company said Chris Woolridge has taken up the role after 11 years with the firm.

The current chairman and CEO, Jeremy Woolridge, now holds the position of executive chairman.

Chris Woolridge was promoted from his position as director. He was responsible for four of the company’s sites.

He has worked in a variety of roles across the company since graduating in 2002, including sales, operations and group functions.

Meanwhile, South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire-based estate agent Blundells has appointed a new manager for its recently opened Doncaster branch.

Mark Gough has joined Blundells as branch manager at the sales and lettings office at Hall Gate in the town.

He has previously worked in a variety of branch, area and national sales manager roles for Halifax, HBOS and Lloyds Banking Group.

Specialist construction contractor Precision Drilling, which is based in Hull, has appointed a finance manager as part of its expansion plans. Tony Appleyard has more than 30 years of business and finance experience, with Humberside Tech, the Learning and Skills Council and the Skills Funding Agency, and most recently at North Lindsey College, Scunthorpe, as a compliance officer focused on auditing.
