The race is on to find the fastest growing private companies

THE old marketing adage of identifying what your customers need and giving it to them powered Transglobal Fuels into pole position at the 2012 Yorkshire Fastest 50 Awards, writes Bernard Ginns.

The race has started to find this year’s winners in the survey of profitable private sector companies which have seen the biggest annual growth rate in turnover over recent years.

Nick Lyon, operations director of Transglobal Fuels (above), said there is no great mystery to his company’s success. “We achieved it through building up a customer base of large organisations who appreciate the personal service we provide,” he added.

The Batley-based fuel supplier sold 30m litres of diesel and petrol last year, up from 6m in 2008. It turned over £33.8m last year.

A definitive list of the top 50 fastest growing businesses, with details of their activities, will be published in the Yorkshire Post next month. Awards will be handed out to the fastest growing small, medium and large businesses at a ceremony in March with one of the three winners being crowned Yorkshire’s overall fastest growing business. UK Top 100 law firm Ward Hadaway is organising and sponsoring the Yorkshire Fastest 50 for the third successive year.
