Resourceful printer looks to the future

A YORKSHIRE-based printing company plans to create jobs as it increases its market share.

The management team at Resource Print Solutions has invested 250,000 into the business to help it stay ahead of the competition.

The managing director, Phillip Thompson, led a management buy out (MBO) of Resource Print Solutions six years ago. The company has a turnover of 5m and employs 47 people.

Mr Thompson said: "Like many businesses faced with the recession and economic downturn, we wanted to look at ways of diversifying, improving profits and safeguarding jobs."

Resource Print has recently invested in an in-house design studio and creative team and sees its future firmly in the "web-to-print" arena.

Mr Thomson added: "We aim to offer our design and print service to individual customers who will be able to visit our website and order their own customised items, such as birthday cards, online."

The company's expansion plans have been formulated with help from the Manufacturing Advisory Service Yorkshire & Humber, which is jointly supported by Yorkshire Forward and the European Regional Development Fund.
