Reward for venture trio

Three Yorkshire firms were honoured in the venture capital industry's annual awards.

Card Factory, formerly owned by entrepreneur Dean Hoyle, heavy engineering company Davy Markham and Harrogate dental implants firm Neoss all won prizes in the North East category of the BVCA Portfolio Company Management Awards, the successor to last year's CEO Awards.

Card Factory, sold to London private equity firm Charterhouse earlier this year in a deal backed by Lloyds Development Capital, was named private equity-backed team of the year (large buyout) and Richard Hayes – actually the managing director – was chief executive of the year.

Davy Markham, bought by Endless in summer 2007, was private equity-backed team of the year (mid market) and Neoss, backed by MMC Ventures, was venture capital-backed team of the year.
