RSM Tenon’s cautious mood knocks shares

Businesses in the north are likely to make cuts over the next three months, while their southern counterparts are set to grow, says RSM Tenon.

A quarterly survey of entrepreneurs by the professional services firm revealed while 30 per cent of companies in the north intended to increase staff levels, 28 per cent would be shrinking numbers. By contrast, 40 per cent of companies in the south said they were intending on upping personnel and only 15 per cent expected to be making cuts.

RSM Tenon chief executive Andy Raynor said: “Uncertainty over interest rates, the threat of inflation and higher taxes are all starting to take their toll on the entrepreneurial spirit.”
