Sirius Minerals expands partnership with Archer Daniels Midland Company

SIRIUS Minerals, the company behind a giant polyhalite mine in Yorkshire which is expected to create 4,000 jobs, has expanded its partnership with Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), a US-based agri-business.

The mine project is one of the largest private sector investments in the North of England. Bosses at Sirius believe the new mine will help to regenerate the Redcar Steelworks site, as well as providing a major post-Brexit boost to the UK economy.

Sirius is developing the Woodsmith Mine in North Yorkshire, which will extract the world’s largest and highest grade supply of polyhalite.

▪Sirius has signed an agreement with ADM for the supply of starch-based binding agent to be used in the production of Sirius’ POLY4 product.

The company has high hopes for its POLY4 product, a multi-nutrient fertiliser which can be used to increase balanced fertilization around the world. Archer Daniels Midland Company is one of the world’s largest agricultural processors and food ingredient providers, with around 31,000 employees serving customers in more than 170 countries.

Chris Fraser, Managing Director and CEO of Sirius, said: “Sirius has been working with ADM for more than four years and today’s announcement further strengthens our relationship by securing ADM as an important supplier and as a customer aligning our interests for the long-term and demonstrating the significant role POLY4 will play in the world fertilizer markets.”
