So much the batter for pudding maker

Aunt Bessie's, the leading manufacturer of Yorkshire Puddings in the UK, has been presented with a national award for one of its new products.

The Hull-based company won the 2011 Product of the Year award for its Aunt Bessie's Perfect for Chicken Yorkshire Puddings.

Aunt Bessie's, which makes 20 million Yorkshire Puddings a week, introduced the Perfect for Chicken variety, which contains sage and onion, in August last year.

The company's marketing director, Clare Field, said: "With National Yorkshire Pudding Day just round the corner on Monday, February 7, we are delighted to be recognised for our latest innovation in Yorkshire Puddings."

"The Product of the Year award is acknowledgement for all the love and care we put into creating the perfect pud.

"We're delighted to have been presented with such a prestigious award."

Product of the Year chief executive Mike Nolan said: "Product of the Year is the UK's largest public consumer survey and represents a real vote for innovation. "
