SoftSols to play agile role in Olympics

The Wakefield-based firm is supplying its maintenance management system, Agility, to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, which will play host to football matches, including the women’s bronze medal final, in the 2012 games.

The system helps to automatically schedule maintenance tasks within the venue, from making sure the turnstiles work properly to grounds maintenance. It also logs reactive maintenance jobs across the site.

Staff will use hand-held devices to log their work in real time, with actual work carried out at a particular part of the site held in virtual form so work on any item can be tracked and analysed.

The system has been introduced as staff gear up for London 2012 when 12 football matches will be staged at the venue, starting on July 25 next year.

Anthony Mundy, facilities director at the Ricoh Arena, said: “We are one of the most versatile venues in the UK since we host a combination of high-profile concerts, conferences and exhibitions as well as being the home of Coventry City, an on-site hotel, the UK’s largest casino and have office suites for other business- es.”

He added: “We needed to introduce a facilities management software system which could cope with all the different needs of our business and we believe Agility ticks all the boxes.

“This will mean our maintenance staff can work more efficiently and quickly which will be particularly pertinent as we approach one of the busiest few months in our history.”
