Spice gears up for strong growth

UTILITY support services firm Spice yesterday revealed that it was preparing for significant growth over the next four yea- rs.

The company has also unveiled a new corporate identity.

The Yorkshire-based former FTSE-listed company, which was acquired in December 2010 by European buyout firm Cinven, will now be called EnServe Group.

Announcing the move, the company’s chief executive officer David Owens, said: “The EnServe strategy is to double in size over the next four years, while ensuring that we exceed our customers’ service expectations.

“Our four divisions, electricity, water, energy and billing are perfectly positioned to take advantage of the excellent market conditions within which they each operate.”

Cinven bought Spice in a £251.1m deal and, shortly afterwards, appointed former Centrica chief executive and ex-Manchester United chairman Sir Roy Gardner as the group’s chair- man.

At the time, Mr Owens said Sir Roy would help in the work to drive Spice’s future growth, “through organic expansion, a broader geographic outlook and acquisitions”.

The company, which is based in Tingley, near Leeds, works in partnership with a large number of commercial, public and utility organisations.

It operates from more than 30 bases across the United King-dom.

EnServe’s Yorkshire-based operations include energy services firm Freedom Group and H20 Water Services.
