If you weren’t in your current position, what would you be doing?

Running a rum shack on a beach in Barbados.

What was your worst mistake?

Not travelling the world when I was much younger.

What’s your ideal day away from the office?

Probably sitting in the sun at Headingley watching Yorkshire pile on the runs.

Name one person you would like to have dinner with and why?

The late great Irish guitarist Rory Gallagher because he was the best I have seen and so passionate about his work.

What are your hobbies?

Cycling long distances, watching bands, listening to music and film noir.

What would you do if you won the Lottery?

Not very original but I would pay off the mortgage, travel the world and buy an Aston Martin DB5.

What’s your favourite item of clothing?

Diesel Jeans.

What’s your favourite time of day?

Summer evenings.

What’s the best thing about Yorkshire?

The County Champions pendant flying over Headingley cricket ground and the stunning scenery (best enjoyed cycling up hill!)

What would you like your epitaph to be?

He had no regrets.
