On the Spot with Chris Fox

What was your first job?

A telesales job for a document storage company. I wanted to go travelling before university and knew a job in sales would help to fund it.

If you weren't in your present position, what would you be doing?

My ultimate dream job would have been a Formula One driver. In reality though, I love the idea of working in Spain to get a better grasp of the language.

What was your worst mistake?

Trying to launch a business straight after university. I was nave and thought I could run before I could walk, so I soon realised I needed to get more experience by working for a company.

Describe your ideal day away from the office?

Morning would be spent making a fool of myself on a golf course; watching football in the afternoon and finishing the day with steak or a curry.

Name the one person you would most like to have dinner with?

I'd love to have met Martin Luther King Junior as he was so inspiring, but in the current day it would have to be David Attenborough.

What was your best subject at school?

History. I still enjoy reading about it.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

Buy an Audi R8, travel across America and eventually use the money to get involved in all sorts of different businesses.

What's your top time-saving tip?

Telling those that are notoriously bad time-keepers to meet 30 minutes before is needed.

What is your favourite time of day and why?

Mornings during the summer. Nothing beats getting up early in daylight and doing exercise before you start the day. It's so much harder to do in winter.

What is your favourite item of clothing?

I have a great leather cowboy hat from Australia. Unfortunately, I can't wear it to meetings.

What is the best thing about Yorkshire?

The people, the sport and the fantastic choices we have on our doorstep. You have to love the local patriotism as well.

What would be your epitaph?

I'd like it to be based on words similar to those used by Ray Kroc, the owner of McDonald's, who famously said: "Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."

Chris Fox, owner of Wakefield-based Kahootz, which offers discounts on activities in Leeds.
