What was your first job?

A Saturday job as a sales assistant in a sports shop in Leeds.

If you weren’t in your present post what would you be doing?

Travelling the world and writing novels.

What was your worst mistake?

Not having children at a younger age – I kept putting it off due to work commitments – but I now see you can have a career and a family, as long as you’ve got lots of support.

What’s your ideal day away from the office?

A fun day with my husband and son, visiting one of the many great tourist attractions in North Yorkshire.

Name one person you would like to have dinner with and why.

William Shakespeare to discover the great mind that created such great literature.

What was your best subject at school?

English always, and maths until A-level when it got too difficult.

What are your hobbies?

Salsa dancing.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

Travel the world and write novels.

What’s your top time-saving tip?

Do one job at a time and switch off emails if you really need to concentrate.

What’s your favourite item of clothing?

My salsa shoes.

What’s your favourite time of the day?

Meal times.

What’s the best thing about Yorkshire?

Its variety, which means it’s got it all – shopping and culture, scenery and coastline.

What would you like to be your epitaph?

A great optimist who probably thinks it’s all about to happen again.
