Summit of financial experts

A YORKSHIRE businessman will be one of the key speakers at a conference which will encourage consumers to get a grip on their finances.

Life and financial planning expert Jeremy Deedes, from Helmsley, North Yorkshire, will open the 24th Institute of Financial Planning Annual Conference and Exhibition this month.

The three-day conference, in Newport, South Wales, will be attended by 500 financial planners and industry experts from across the UK, who will be welcomed to the event by Mr Deedes, the chairman of the conference committee.

The speakers will include Karren Brady, Sir Alan Sugar's aide on The Apprentice and vice-chairman of West Ham Football Club; George Kinder who is widely regarded as the 'father' of life planning; and Karen Schaeffer, co-founder of Schaeffer Financial, a financial consulting firm in Washington, DC.

Mr Deedes, managing director of Helmsley-based financial strategy specialists Planning for Life, said: "This conference is designed to ensure that financial planners are equipped for the challenges ahead."

The conference takes place from Monday, September 20 to Wednesday, September 22 at Celtic Manor in Newport.
