Telecoms firm Plusnet is relocating

Broadband provider Plusnet is relocating its Yorkshire headquarters, it announced yesterday. The Sheffield-based company, which is currently based across two sites on Tenter Street and Victoria Quays, is moving into The Balance on Pinfold Street, next spring.

The move is going to be one of the biggest office lettings within Sheffield in the last five years – over 53,000 sq ft. Its sites currently total 34,000 sq ft.

Jamie Ford, chief executive of Plusnet, said: “This is an incredibly exciting time for our business and signals another milestone in our amazing story.

“With such rapid expansion over the last two years this move will enable all business operations including our customer services, to remain together under one roof. This is something incredibly unique for a UK telecoms provider.

“At the same time, the move gives us the space to necessitate further expansion as we continue to grow at pace and cements our commitment to Sheffield for the foreseeable future.”

Plusnet, which will celebrate its 15th birthday in February, employs almost 700 staff. It recently moved its customer service team, based in South Africa, back to Sheffield.

Mr Ford added: “As we continue to grow, I hope the new building acts as another factor to attract local talent to our business.”

Plusnet is refurbishing four floors in the building, which is also home to HSBC and Hill Dickinson. It expects to complete the move by the end of May 2012.

Plusnet has grown its total client base by 50 per cent to 500,000 over the last two years but it wants to steal market share by increasing its number of SME customers.
