Unit4 in deal to help B&B manage its book

A software firm that helps finance directors to keep a grip on spending has signed a contract with Bradford & Bingley.

Unit4, which used to be known as Coda and employs 300 staff in Harrogate, is helping Bradford & Bingley to manage its mortgage book.

Bradford & Bingley's retail branch network has been acquired by Santander and the rest of the business, including the mortgage operation and headquarters, was taken into public ownership by the Government in 2008.

A Unit4 spokesman said: "As a result of the changing trading environment it finds itself in, Bradford & Bingley has decided to move to a more cost-effective operating platform for its accounting systems and has selected Coda Financials from Unit4 Business Software to help address those changes and ensure that service standards are maintained while it manages down its mortgage book."

Tyrone Griffiths, project manager for Bradford & Bingley, said: "These are challenging times for the financial services industry and we needed a financial management system that had a proven track record in our sector..and was quick and easy to implement."

Anwen Robinson, the UK managing director for Unit4, said the contract win showed that its systems were helping organisations to cope with changes caused by the downturn.

Unit4 creates, delivers and supports software and services to help organisations manage their business effectively. These services include software systems which help financial directors and finance departments to operate more efficiently.
