Universal’s Asia push brings in new clients

Events organiser Universal WorldEvents has won a number of new contracts in Asia.

New clients for the Yorkshire firm’s Hong Kong operation include HR Consulting Firm, Mercer, UK international cultural relations body, the British Council and three pharmaceutical companies.

The Hong Kong office has also undergone a period of growth over the past six months, with a number of new appointments and a move to a larger premises.

New staff include account director Gareth Gallagher, project manager Rachel Cheung, and project executives Kaman Ng and Leilani Chan.

Mr Gallagher was initially seconded to the Hong Kong office at the beginning of the year from the Cleckheaton headquarters of Universal WorldEvents. He decided to remain in Hong Kong to oversee the operational delivery of the Asian offices events.

In addition, James Thompson, business director, has been seconded to Asia to help develop the office’s existing client list, increase the team further and concentrate on new client development.

Mr Thompson said: “The Asian market is going to become increasingly important in the years ahead and it is vital we are able to take advantage of the growing opportunity.

Universal WorldEvents recently won the Exceptional Motivational Travel Program, Asia Pacific award at the 2011 Site Crystal Awards in Las Vegas.
