Variety Club brings Christmas cheer

YORKSHIRE'S business community dug deep to bring festive cheer to needy children at a major awards ceremony yesterday.

The Variety Club Yorkshire Business Awards, supported by the Yorkshire Post and executive search firm Hitchenor Wakeford, attracted an audience of 400 to the Queens Hotel in Leeds.

A collection for the Variety Club's appeal raised around 115,000.

Guests included Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles, and General Sir Richard Dannatt. There will be full coverage of the award winners in Business Tuesday. Video coverage of the awards and a podcast will also be available from Tuesday at yorkshirepost.co.uk/video
